From the work of Julia Lohmann entitled Ruminant Bloom 2004 - Lights using the stomachs of sheep and cows
When you first see Lohmann’s work, unaware of the context, your reaction is 'beautiful' at least that’s what mine was. Of course like many artists she wants to do more than delight you, and so she tells you what you're looking at. An animals stomach. There are a lot of artists out there, all vying for their piece of the proverbial pie, and a lot fall short. They try too hard to have a point or a mission statement, and the actual art falls along the wayside. But with this instillation I think that Ms Lohmannn has struck a fine balance between the two and suceeded.
