When I started this blog in late 2009 my business or I should say businesses were nothing but a twinkle in my eye. I wrote about the world around me; the things, people and places that inspired me. And I loved it. I still do. But since then many things have changed. How I record my inspirations for one. I now own a smartphone, when I see something I love I pin it or snap a pic for instagram and the process of how I design and record those moments often ends up there or on the facebook page
Also as my business here at six0six design has grown and I expanded to set up a second business with the craft corner time has become an even more valuable commodity. At the end of last year, 2013, I decided to take a step back from this blog because I had started to feel a lack of direction and focus in my writing. I was creating plans for posts and failing to follow through on them. I had grand ideas but they remained in my notebooks or in my head.
And I realised that it wasn't that I didn't want to create great content or that I couldn't but that I had outgrown this blog and what it had started as.
So I made a pact with myself, instead of the time I would spend writing posts that I never published or doodling away at unfinished ideas for blog series I would PAUSE. I have taken the last three months of no blogging and put that time into blog RESEARCH. I have listened to podcasts, researched other succesful blogs that I love to read and really tried to figure out the following things
WHAT DO I LOVE WRITING ABOUT?
WHAT AM I GOOD AT WRITING/BLOGGING ABOUT?
WHERE DO THOSE TWO ELEMENTS MEET?
Over the course of the next month I will be moving some of the relevant blog content over to my main website where this second wave of my blogging career will begin on the 1st May 2014
You see that's another thing I am working on. Realistic deadlines. I am not saying that will start tomorrow and there will be seven days of content for the next 5 years. I am giving myself a month to gather the content I want to talk about. I am telling the world about it because unless you put it out there it is very easy to simply push it back and back.
I intend to restart the "Words to live by" series which is my most popular Pinterest Board and the pins that get the most repins. You see I'm listening to what the people want!
I will have a weekly round up telling you all about whats going on in the studio, new products, ideas and work in progress.
There will be more but you'll have to wait until 1st May 2014 to find out what.
In the meantime, if you've made it to the bottom of this post then first of all well done. Secondly it probably means you might like to stay in touch and keep reading.
